Virosafe MD undertakes US Research Trip
John Keough, Managing Director of Virosafe Ltd, has just come back from a fact-finding trip to the United States of America where he met with a number of organisations working within the field of disability and accessiblity. The visits had been arranged as part of Virosafe's programme of developing links with other community organisations and to help gain a better of understanding of the US's approach to holistic and integrated service provision.
One of the visits was to The Ability Center of Greater Toledo where John met with Tim Harrington, Executive Director, Dan Wilkins, Manager of Public Relations and Events and Ash Lemons, Housing Resource Centre Director. The Ability Centre's mission is 'to assist people with disabilities to live, work and socialise within a fully accessible community' and they do this through the provision of a range of services including advocacy, training and support.
The US's model of support for people with disabilities is centred on bringing the various organisations together into one place, making the access to services much easier from the outset. John will be developing the relationship with the Centre over the coming months and will be seeking to use the research gained from the visit to assist in Virosafe's work with local service providers to foster this holistic approach in the UK.
